Dasara is the biggest festival in Nepal which is celebrated by Hindu and non-Hindu Nepalis. As per Hindu calendar, Vijayadashami is celebrated on the tenth day of the Hindu autumn lunar month of Ashvin or Ashwayuja, which mainly comes in the month of September or October or the day after the new moon which falls in Bhadrapada, to the Dashami, or the tenth day of Ashvin. Dussera is celebrated in various ways in different places like Dussera is a charming festival in Mysore in the hilltop Chamundi temple. The goddess, procession of elephants, courtiers and court symbols attracts thousands tourists by wending in circuitous way of the temple. The temple is decorated splendidly for this festival
