Some of the most spectacular ways of attracting a mate are used by birds. Male birds tend to be more brightly coloured then the females. Their feathers are often much more decorative. At mating time they perform wonderful displays. they spread their wings and tails, or ruffle their head, neck, or body feathers. then they twist and turn and dance to charm a female in to mating with them.
