Ganapati Chaturthi pictures

Lord Ganapati is the eldest son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and elder brother of Skanda or Kartikeya . He has as his vehicle a small mouse . He is the Lord who is believed to remove all obstacles on the path of the spiritual aspirant, and bestows upon him worldly as well as spiritual success. He is the Lord of Harmony and Peace . this year Lord Ganapati is 1 st September to September 11 th 2011 .
It is preferable to do Ganapati puja on the Chaturthi day at the noon, however you can perform the pooja as per your wish whenever all the members of your family are present. For Ganapati Chaturthi pooja following items are required- A Clay image of Lord Ganesha, flowers, druva grass blades, sweets (preferably Modak), coconut, sandalwood paste and incense sticks. The Pooja commences with the placing of idol on a raised horizontal surface and giving it a bathe with Panchamrit, after that pray to Lord Ganesh and recite all the mantras or bhajans dedicated to Lord Ganesha. To invoke Lord Ganesha the mantra can be found in the Rig Veda and is part of Ganesh Suktha. Do not exceptionally elaborate the rituals of the Pooja rather all you need to do is pray with a clean heart and pious objective. It is believed that worshiping Lord Ganesha during the festival will remove all obstacles and bring Good luck with Prosperity to the family.
